So Sunday we made a long trek to pick up our jersey bull. It was a 6 hour round trip. But we now have a bull. Which was very much needed. As we have jersey heifer we want to breed. So come next we if all goes well we should have a little calf.

So here he is our jersey bull

This is the bull with our heifer.

This is the heifer. Our black Angus steer. And Max our pony. Before we brought home their new pen mate.

Camera

My new to me 35mm camera.

One of my buys during the auction I went to a couple weekends ago. Was a Nikon N5005 35 mm camera.

Now this waa very exciting for me  I love taking pictures always have. I loved it when my grandfather had bought me a nice 35mm camera years ago back when i was 10 or so. Sadly I no longer have it.

Yes I have an smart phone. But I’m not keen on them. I miss the good ole days where you had to use a land line to talk to people. And even the dial up internet.

Cuz well people use to talk like really talk. Everyone took time to write and keep in touch. Not just the simple what’s up text you get now a days.

Phones are attached to everyone. It’s like an extra limb. A life line. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice at times.

Having everything cyber related at your finger tips. Phone, internet, camera, clock. How many people do you see wearing a watch anymore? What do people do when you ask what time it is? They pull out their phone.

Cameras are everywhere. You pull your phone out and click you have a picture.

How often does one ever print their pictures off now? So you have a hard copy? It’s on your phone and likely all over your social media. But very rarely on your walls or photo albums you can pull out of your closet to show guests. And let’s be honest most of your guests likely have you on social media and seen all the pictures that way.

I miss the good ole days where you bought film. Took your pictures and waited for them to get developed to see if they even turned out.

I even took a photography class in my teens that taught me how to develop my own film. Now to have a room to do that would be cool.   But no where in my future. I’ll stick with Wal-Mart. Ha!

It was fun learning to use my camera and get it all set up. And take those first few pictures. It was like Christmas. Also watching J get all excited and wanting to take pictures with it was fun.

Also was quite amusing watching him trying to figure out why he couldn’t see the picture. And why It didn’t print one out. Having to explain to him you take the film in to be developed. Still he wasn’t fully understanding what we were talking about. So I look forward to taking a roll in and letting him drop it off and pick it up.

It’ll be magic Ha!

Now to find things to take pictures of. Maybe I’ll take it to J”s t-ball practice. Give it a try.

Fun on the farm.

More adventures and additions on the farm

So the other day I go grab my last goat to milk. (Girlie goat our Nigerian dwarf). I put her in the milk stand. Then leave to grab some grain for her.  I come back to this

Ummm yeah. That’s not gonna work. The duck figured she should get her evening treat while she sits on the stand with the goat.

We also have some new members on the farm.

This hen hatched out 24 ducklings! That’s quite the achievement! Bout a week later. Tall grass duck hatched out her ducklings

She had 7 total. I’ve already got them all SOLD. All 31 of them! 6 went to their new home today. The rest go tomorrow.

Then to wait for the next round to hatch. I should have some hatching on the 18th. And one other nest at any point. As I don’t know when she started sitting.

Next we got some meat chickens. That we will butcher in 15 weeks or so.

Then while cleaning the garage for the 2nd time this year. This time however I was hoping to power wash the floor. No clue there yet. My one hose broke. Go figure.

But we ran across this spider

We did manage to power wash the main porch. Next to stain it

The lawn is still unmowed! The saga continues. I’d say the yard looks a bit more like a jungle now. But not for to much longer. The new mower is on its way!! Come Friday the lawn will meet it’s maker or mower. Ha! We will get to put the mower through its paces that’s for sure.

Well that’s all for now. Off to do more chores.

Tubing

My first time tubing.

So on July 2nd I went tubing for the first time. Now I’ve been tubing down a river. Which is very peaceful. I enjoyed that tubing. I’ve also been snow tubing also fun. Can be a bit scary depending on what is at the end of said hill. But still fun.

Now I’m not to keen on getting on things that don’t have brakes! Or a stop button. As there’s times when your wishing you hadn’t inserted that quarter into the ride.

But since J had went tubing a few days back (ans hubby had done his share of tubing years ago) I was the only one left having not been on a tube. Being pulled behind a water mobile. In this case the tube is pulled behind a jet ski.

So friends of ours invited us out to the lake to swim. Ride the jet ski and go tubing. Figured why not you only live once. Just last year I rode a jet ski for the first time.

Thought since that went so well. Bring on the tube.  Now at the time I wasn’t quite sure the goal or reason behind tubing. Was it to be like a faster way of tubing down a river but on a lake. Add a little more thrill to said tubing.

Now I’ve seen tubes get flung up in the air sending it’s riders bouncing across the water like a stone being tossed to see how many skips one can get.

So in the back of my mind that was rolling around.

But I climbed onto the tube. My hubby was driving the jet ski. And our friends daughter waa riding on the tube with me. So I didn’t have to go alone. Which was great. No one likes doing something new alone. You want the company so you can be terrified together.

We get going I thought well this isn’t so bad. Then the water smacks you in the face. Not to thrilled with that. Having contacts in they tried to come out  which would have left me visually impaired.

More water splashes up. The wind is whipping around you. Your tossed up and down. Side to side. Your holding on for dear life. I bounced off only my arms were holding on a one point. I managed to bounce and move my way back up on the tube. Just in time for hubby to turn the opposite way. Tipping us sideways. The gal riding with fell off. Which stopped the ride.

I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was to terrified to let go.  But yet it was fun all at the same time. We make it back up to shore. I breath a sigh of relief land ha!

Once the adrenaline wore off I was like that wasn’t to bad. Which led to me going out again. This time with my friend on the tube with me and her husband driving the jet ski.

Now my hubby he is a pro at pulling tubes and sending people sailing. He made the next time I got on the tube seem like nothing. Now I’m happy no proud to say i never fell off. I held tight to said tube.

I was never flung across the lake like a stone.

Now with that said. I’m sure I’ll likely never get on that tube again. I survived and that’s enough for me. I can mark it off of things I’ve never done. The next morning after tubing I felt like I was hit by a Mac truck.  I’m to old for that.

However I don’t mind pulling the tube. Im nice though. I don’t fling the riders off. Though i know I know the goal is to send your riders across the water off the tube. See how many skips you can get ha! Ok maybe not quite that exactly.

And the goal of the ones riding or least for me is to hold on and don’t fall off.

But what I do know is it was an adventure. And I enjoyed it  I loved getting to share that moment with my hubby.

And watching J play with his friends. J loves going to the lake. It was a great day.
